August 28 to September 3rd

Hello Friends of Mulberry Hill,

We harvested 410 lbs of produce this week.   130 lbs were delivered to Neighborhood House food pantry on Thursday and 230 lbs went to College Court apartments on Saturday.  50 lbs of  produce went home with volunteers.   To date we have harvested 1910 lbs of fresh produce for food pantries, volunteers and neighbors.

Volunteer hours totaled 21 with special thanks to Donna, Claudia, Laina, Brandi and Bob.

Saturday we delivered green beans, potatoes, apples, collards, swiss chard, okra, beets, cucumbers, zuchinni and leeks to college court.

We are enjoying a wonderful okra crop.  (See picture of blossoms on our website) It takes until the middle of August for it to start blooming.   Once it starts blooming it will produce 4 ” pods in about 3 days.   If we let it go longer then the pods become tough and harder to slice.

So we pick it every 3 days.  It will continue blooming now until frost which last year was in late October.

Monthly donations have now risen to $220.   If you haven’t thought about it, please consider $5 per month by going to our website and clicking on the donate link.

Many thanks to all for your interest and support.
