Last year we participated for the first time in Seed Money’s Challenge. This takes place every year from November 15th to December 15th. We received over $3200 in donations via the challenge and or our efforts were given $100 and then another $400 from Seed Money. After the challenge was over, we received another $650 from two donors. The $100 was for being in the top 50 gardens in the first week and the $400 was for being in the top 36 gardens a the end of the challenge. Our donations came from close to 50 donors.
We were invited again to participate this year and have set a goal of $10,000. We will use these funds to help launch our Urban Agriculture Science Academy. We plan to teach students over multiple years to become Master Level Gardeners and pay them for their work in the garden. Your help in launching the 3rd leg of our efforts at Mulberry Hill is much appreciated.
In our 2nd season we were able to increase our volunteer corps, build a 10′ by 15′ shed that looks like a barn, grow and deliver close to 4,000 lbs of produce to Neighborhood House Food Pantry, College Court low-income apartments, and to our volunteers and neighbors.
Please click on the link below to go to our Seed Money site and donate. Help us reach our goal and recieve a “strong start” award by being in the top 50 gardens. The garden currently in 50th place has $941 in donations. I will report via our newsletter every couple of days our plance in the compettion. This year there are close to 500 gardens competing with the top garden receiving $1000 grant from seed money. Last year we earned $400 for being in 28th place.
